Basel is exceptionally relaxed about their cannabis laws. Growing and even purchasing cannabis is legal. However, smoking is not. However, ‘legal cannabis’ is sold everywhere. Medical marijuana is also permissible.

Basel Cannabis Laws

The cannabis laws in Basel are quite fascinating. Although cannabis is illegal, you will still find most tobacco shops selling ‘legal cannabis,’ which are cigarettes containing cannabis, which has less than 1.0% THC. Although these joints will not get you high, they’re still great to try out!

Medical marijuana is also legal, but there are only two licensed pharmacies in Switzerland that are permitted to sell cannabis products. Even here, it is not permissible to prescribe cannabis flowers- just cannabis oils or products.

Law enforcement

Possession of cannabis has been decriminalized. This means that as long as you have less than 10 grams of weed on you, the cops might fine you 100 Francs and then let you go. Most of the time, they won’t bother with you if you are not dealing or carrying a considerable quantity on you.

Cannabis prices and quality

Typically, you should be able to find 1 gram of cannabis for 10 to 15 CFH. However, the downside is that if you are buying from street dealers, most of the time, the quality will be quite poor. You can always purchase your cannabis from dispensaries if you can get a prescription for it.

Prices of indoor weed- 50 CFH for 2-3 grams.

50 CFH for 3.5 grams of outdoor-grown weed.

Around 20 CFH for 1 gram of indoor-grown weed.

You can also try the ‘legal cannabis,’ but honestly, it won’t get you high at all.
