Tolerance Level Guesstimation [1= very illegal, 10= completely legal] – 8

Cannabis might be illegal, but it is still tolerated in small amounts. Private possession and consumption are also decriminalized. However, only Dutch citizens can have a ‘weed pass’ to buy legal cannabis.

Maastricht Cannabis Laws

If you are a resident or a student in Maastricht, you can pretty much enjoy buying your cannabis legally from any coffee shop around the city. However, for tourists, you might have to rely on street dealers, which is quite unfortunate.

As long as you have 5 grams of cannabis on you and not more, you will be fine. However, if you have any more, or are caught smoking in public, you will be arrested for it.

You can, however, smoke inside the coffee shops. This is entirely legal, so enjoy it!

Law Enforcement

If you must buy cannabis in Maastricht, don’t buy more than 5 grams, just to be safe. Avoid buying from street dealers- if you are caught, you can be arrested for it. Even the coffee shops are not legally allowed to sell more than 5 grams to an individual, and you can only buy 5 grams in a day.

Prices, Quality, and Types of Weed

If you are buying your cannabis from the coffee shops, you will find a wide variety of strains to choose from, all of which are pretty great in quality. However, if you buy from street dealers, the quality will not be so good. As for the price- it depends upon the strain. You might find some strains sold for 3 to 5 Euros a gram, while other high-quality strains sell for 10 to 15 Euros per gram.

If you are a tourist and cannot buy your weed without a Weed Pass, you might have to rely on street dealers. However, you can always ask someone to buy some for you, using their Weed Pass. A friendly local might be happy to help!
